Having a technical background is a PM superpower; however, you can get more technical without a technical background by learning basic concepts and asking your engineering partners a ton of questions.

Learn the basics

  • Start by basic terms, technologies, and concepts
  • Set a few hours to go through how tech such as programming, websites, web apps, APIs works
  • Take courses directly related to tech stack and architecture you use

Ask questions

  • Put together a list of questions, grab an engineer, find a whiteboard, and ask them questions until you start to understand WTF is going on
  • Whenever you come across something new, write it down, google it, and go deep in that. Once you have done that, you can ask questions around it to your engineering team

Build something yourself

  • Handy resources for the coding journey
    • CS50: Introduction to Computer Science
    • freeCodeCamp
    • Codecademy
    • Udemy
    • Coursera
